ColourTory: The new season is rosy

From ‘Mellow Rose’ to ‘Pink Peacock’, autumn colour-blocking hinges on pink

This season is all about unusual colour palettes, combined in striking combinations with rich autumnal hues. Playful colour-blocking is centred around new shades of pink, appealingly labelled ‘Mellow Rose’ and ‘Pink Peacock’ by Pantone’s autumn colour report.

Pink is a chameleon. Muted tones suggest innocence, while louder shades exude boldness. Generally associated with kindness, love and femininity, pink is also thought to have a calming effect. Try grown up blush tones like ‘Mellow Rose’ paired with a plain white tee, to add a twist to office tailoring.

For a splash of colour, accessories in bolder shades like ‘Pink Peacock’ will add an eighties pop to plainer outfits. Brighter pinks are thought to be stimulating, so they’re a perfect way to shake up your wardrobe for easy new season style.
